That Point
Apr. 27th, 2010 02:21 pmHave reached That Point in current story draft. You know the one. The point where, despite knowing the plot, the writing stalls. Where it suddenly feels like every word is somehow wrong, and every idea has already been done, and done better, by other (better) writers. Where self-doubt and the inner editor threaten to overwhelm the "simple" action of getting the words out.
First a story must be finished. When it is finished, it can be edited, polished, or trashed. But first it must be finished.
The scene is already in my head. I just need to get the words out.
...If only there wasn't a dayjob in the way, too.
